Mrs. Carpenter's students took research to another level. Using the newly acquired district app, Canva, students learned how to use graphic design tools to create visual representations that accompanied their research. Students created slide shows, infographics, and even movies to showcase their thoughts on the digital information age. They learned how to pair designs with subject matter and published them in hopes to earn a spot in the district's Young Author's Night. This is a district level celebration of its best authors. The students did an excellent job using technology to enhance their writing skills.
During the month of February, in honor of Black History Month, students studied the styles of contemporary African American artists Hebru Brantley and Kehinde Wiley, and drew portraits of icons and self-portraits inspired by these artists’ styles. The portraits are being displayed at the Brentwood Public Library, upstairs in the Children’s Section, and downstairs in the Teen Services area.
